Michael J. Lipan, MD
Dr. Lipan earned his undergraduate degree at Cornell University and a Doctorate of Medicine at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He graduated near the top of his class from medical school with a distinction in research. He completed his residency in otolaryngology head and neck surgery at the University of Miami under well respected facial plastic surgeons who were leaders in rhinoplasty and facial reconstruction. While in residency, he received numerous awards and top prize for his research on wound healing and biomaterials. After residency, he chose to pursue additional training in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery by matching into a fellowship at Stanford University. These highly coveted positions are sanctioned by the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery & Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). As a part of his responsibilities as a clinical instructor at Stanford, he ran his own clinic at Stanford and at the Palo Alto VA helping patients and veterans with cosmetic, reconstructive and traumatic facial surgery problems including many challenging issues.
While at Stanford, Dr. Lipan published a research project to better understand the impact of nasal obstruction and the plastic surgery techniques needed to correct the most severe cases. As a result, he was awarded the 2012 John Orlando Roe Award for the best clinical research paper among AAFPRS Fellows.
Today he seeks to become a pioneer in the field of rhinoplasty and nasal airway reconstruction performed with rhinoplasty techniques. Utilizing his training, experience and research in nasal surgery, he seeks to become the best plastic surgeon in the region for these issues.
Dr. Lipan is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and performs a variety of procedures including cosmetic rhinoplasty, repair of nasal breathing obstruction, Facial Rhytidectomy (face lift procedures, neck lift and tightening, liposculpting of the neck and jaw), Brow Lift, Eyelid Surgery, BOTOX Cosmetic and injectable fillers (restylane and Juvederm), Facial Skin Cancer Reconstruction after MOHS surgery, facial paralysis reconstruction among others.
